SUMMARY:Opening of LitFestBergen 2024
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the official opening of the Bergen International Literary Festival for Non-fiction and Fiction 2024. \nAt the opening\, we will have our first encounter with the festival theme DISSOLUTION with contributions from Bergen\, Durban\, Palestine\, Inland and Hadseløya. We will also be presenting the award for best essay and best poem in the global writing contest that we have organised in collaboration with UiB/ Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research and the Rafto Foundation. The winners have been selected from 553 texts that were written by young adults from 119 countries. \nThere will be artistic contributions by the poet Erlend O. Nødtvedt\, Nomthandazo Shandu and Andisa Mpisi\, speeches from author Adania Shibli\, secretary of state Even Aleksander Hagen and festival director Teresa Grøtan. \nThe master of ceremonies is the manager of LitFestBergen\, Hjørdis Losnedahl.

Entries from the competition will be used for the research project «Climate Narratives». \n– The goal is to discover new literary gold\, says Teresa Grøtan\, director of the Bergen International Literary Festival. \nThe winners will be announced during LitFestBergen in February 2024\, and there will be several more events during the festival. A book of essays\, poetry and climate art will be released during the course of 2024. \nThe jury consists of prize-winning poets\, authors and researchers from Fiji\, Nigeria\, India\, USA and Norway. \nMore information here.
